Neil DeGrasse Tyson

Yesterday I was watching Cosmos, and Neil DeGrasse Tyson explained that over 95% of the universe is made of dark matter, an unseen gravitational force that holds the universe together. ("Dark" meaning they emit no radiation directly perceptible to us, whether visible light or otherwise.) Dark matter is a mystery to scientists.

The link explains dark matter from a scriptural perspective. From it I got this Bible verse.


"By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word

 of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things 

which are visible" (Hebrews:11:3)





The Verse of the Day today is: "But You are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head." Psalm 3:3

"Our Father paints the sunsets and holds the stars in their orbits. He guarantees our future. How can we walk dejectedly when we remember this?...God of glory, majesty, and might, I praise you for all the many works of your handiwork I see in nature. I praise you for the laws that hold our universe in place by your command."


Lord, I am stymied by my own selfishness. I want what I want when I want it. I pray that You would fill me, change me, focus me on You. You hold the universe together!

I pray for the new children in my BSF class, and for my co-leader Betsy. I pray for Your filling during our two hours with the children. I pray for Juliette, Clarke, Emma, Shelby, Elijah, Addison, Anna, Camden, Micha, Rylan, Olivia, Josiah, Joey, Andrew and Grant. I don't know Addison, Camden, Micha, Rylan, Olivia, or Josiah yet, but I pray that we will be respectful of one another, and that our room will be full of love.

I pray for my novel in Katherine's in box. I'm going to email her today. I will keep in mind that anything that happens is under Your purview, and that You are engaged and all You expect of me is to trust and obey.

I pray for Dad, that You will move into his life in some way, and the same for Sara and Andy.

I pray for Lee, that I would be a better wife to him, and that You would show me opportunities to do that. I pray that he would decide on his own to stop drinking, and start exercising, and that his health would improve. Show me how I might help.

I pray for Isabel and Lily, for their protection and health and that they would seek after You, and that You would seek after them.
